OLD STORIES ABOUT HANOI

Chuyện Cũ Hà Nội (Old Stories About Hanoi) by Tô Hoài is a memoir that encapsulates life in Vietnam under French rule. The writing style of the novel feels like a stream of consciousness, giving the reader a raw, authentic look into what life was like during the French colonial/pre-WW2 era of Vietnam.

This project is a English reissue of the book, with illustrations alongside it to give the work the same “luxurious” treatment as Western classic novels, challenging the idea of what we would consider a novel that is worthwhile to be republished for the next generation.
